Pure Tung Oil (16 oz (473ml))
Our 100% pure and natural Tung Oil is made from the cold pressed seeds of the Tung tree. It is a hard drying oil that penetrates deep into wood fibers, enhancing the beauty of the wood grain and creating a rich matte finish. Tung Oil is also known for its ability to protect wood from acid, water, and grease, making it ideal for a variety of applications such as flooring, furniture, decks, siding, concrete, stone, metal, interiors, and exteriors.
To apply, simply saturate a rag with the oil and wipe off any excess after 30 minutes. Wait 24 hours before applying another coat. Typically, 2-4 coats will provide excellent results. For coverage, 16 oz covers 50 square feet per coat, 32 oz covers 100 square feet per coat, and 1 gallon covers 400 square feet per coat.
For better penetration and faster drying, mix the Tung Oil with citrus solvent or mineral spirit. It is important to note that the oil should not be used over an oil-based stain. Additionally, it is crucial to ensure that the temperature remains above freezing during and after the application for at least 2 weeks.
